HÀ NỘI — Midfielder Lương Xuân Trường will be out of action for up to six months due to an injury to his right knee.
Trường was training with the national team in preparation for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers when he tore his ligaments on Monday.
Team doctor Trần Anh Tuấn said Trường needed surgery and would have to spend five to six months on the sidelines.
He will miss the World Cup qualifiers against Malaysia on October 10, Indonesia on October 15, the UAE on November 14 and Thailand on November 19, as well as the last two matches of the V.League 1 this year.
He is the second midfielder to have been forced to leave the national squad following HCM City’s Ngô Hoàng Thịnh who contracted an eye disease. — VNS
