HCM CITY— More than 100 garments for women and men created by Vietnamese fashion houses and designers will be showcased at the first Vietnam Runway Fashion Week to be held in HCM City this week.
The collections will include mostly ready-to-wear clothes made of high-quality materials and offered at reasonable prices.
Designers like Hà Linh Thư and Thương Thanh Long will present Fall-Winter 2019-20 collections.
The new Vietnamese brand Maschio of HCM City will also be featured.
Nearly 40 professional models will wear the clothes at the event.
“I decided to organise Vietnam Runway Fashion Week because I wanted to create a place to connect Vietnamese fashion designers and models and customers,” said Xuân Lan, a model and head of the event's organising board.
“The event will also offer participants the opportunity to promote their brand names and sales,” said Lan, owner of Xuân Lan’s Model Academy.
She is also a founder of the annual Vietnam Junior Fashion Week (VJFW), which first opened in 2016. It encourages Vietnamese fashion houses, companies and designers to develop children's clothes.
Vietnam Junior Fashion Week 2019 will attract 200 boys and girls, aged four to 15, from the cities of Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng, Cam Ranh and HCM City.
The models will wear the latest collections by 10 local fashion designers and garment companies, including top fashion designer Đỗ Mạnh Cường and fashion brands Rubby’s Midu, Hennada, Bubbe and Maschio.
“We hope both children and parents will be entertained by our show,” Lan said.
According to Lan, Vietnamese brands have developed their business aimed at children and teenagers in recent years. Clothes in quality materials of cotton, lace, silk and taffeta, accompanied by accessories such as belts, sunglasses, gloves and fishnet socks, are offered at reasonable prices every season.
“I believe this market is promising,” said Lan.
The first Vietnam Runway Fashion Week will open at 8pm on Friday, while Vietnam Junior Fashion Week 2019 will take place Saturday and Sunday at White Palace on 194 Hoàng Văn Thụ Street in Phú Nhuận District. — VNS
