Vinamilk donates milk to disadvantaged children in Thái Nguyên - Kim Minh International 2024

HÀ NỘI — Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) on Thursday donated 70,000 glasses of milk to 780 disadvantaged students of Quy Kỳ Primary School in the northern province of Thái Nguyên’s Định Hóa District.

The donation, worth of VNĐ470 million (US$20,210), is part of the 'Stand Tall Vietnam' Milk Fund run by Vinamilk, helping disadvantaged families and families who are beneficiaries of State policies on the occasion of War Invalids' and Martyrs' Day, which falls on July 27.

Speaking at the event, Vinamilk Executive Director in charge of Human Resources Administration and Public Relation Bùi Thị Hương said Vinamilk and its fund chose Thái Nguyên for the milk to bring children joy and full nutrition.

“Through it, we call on the community's concern for the comprehensive development of both physical and intellectual aspects of the young generation,” Hương said.

Thái Nguyên Province is a major socio-economic centre of the midland and northern mountainous region. The province has a favourable geographical position and abundant mineral resources, creating great advantages for the metallurgy and mining industry.

However, the terrain is interspersed with hilly and mountainous areas so the population is unevenly distributed, especially in the mountainous areas where many ethnic minorities such as Tày, Nùng and Sán Dìu are living. With natural disasters such as landslides, thunderstorms and cyclones, local people face many difficulties. Therefore, nutrition care, especially for local children is still limited.

“The excitement of Thái Nguyên students in general and Quy Kỳ Primary School in particular are the motivation for Vinamilk and the 'Stand Tall Vietnam' Milk Fund to continue our mission,” Hương said.

"We will make more efforts to have more children across the country benefiting from this nutritional care, for a future generation of Việt Nam to reach out.”

The milk fund was established in 2008 under the management of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children. It has brought 35 million glasses of milk to provinces across the country, worth VNĐ150 billion for 440,000 disadvantaged children across Việt Nam.

Besides the milk fund, Vinamilk is currently implementing the ‘One million green trees for Vietnam fund’. In seven years it has planted nearly 700,000 trees in nearly 20 provinces with a value of nearly VNĐ9 billion, getting closer to the target of one million trees for Việt Nam. — VNS
